AURORA – Aurora Police identified a man suspected of trying to kidnap an 11-year-old girl last Thursday.

Police said Monday that 32-year-old Tyler Christensen is expected to be charged with second-degree unlawful sexual contact (Class 5 felony) and second-degree kidnapping (Class 5 felony).

APD said the girl was able to escape because she fought back, causing the suspect to run away. The incident prompted a manhunt in the days afterward, resulting in an arrest less than a day afterward.

Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz said in a statement last week that a vigilant officer spotted Christensen, giving investigators the break they needed.

“A very alert patrol officer spotted the subject earlier today (last Friday) based on a description provided to her. The subject was detained and questioned by detectives. It was determined enough information had come together to place the suspect under arrest.”

Police are asking other potential victims to come forward. Potential victims are asked to visit their local police department to make a police report.
