JEFFERSON COUNTY – Colorado State Patrol says 23 vehicles were involved in nine different crashes on Highway 285 Wednesday morning.

This was in the Aspen Park area Wednesday. According to information obtained by reporting partner 9News Denver, the first crash involved a bus that was pulled over on the side of the road due to transmission issues when multiple cars crashed into it around 7 a.m.

The bus driver was transported to a local hospital for injuries after he hit his head, 9News said. No passengers were reportedly injured during the crash.

Not long after, a second bus stopped on the side of the road for an unknown reason when a car slid and hit the bus. No injuries were reported during this crash, according to 9News.

A third bus came and picked up the 40 passengers from the buses involved in the crashes.

Jefferson and Clear Creek Counties were on accident alert status at the time of the crashes. Roads were slick and icy in the early hours of the morning.

CSP said the crashes were cleared around 11 a.m.
