COLORADO SPRINGS – If you’re seeing a large amount of smoke to the southwest of Colorado Springs, there is no need to be worried as a prescribed burn is underway on Ft. Carson property.
We understand crews on post are burning more than 500 acres of brush all day today.
Several calls have already come in to report a fire to our newsroom and emergency dispatch.
The purpose of the prescribed burn is to clear brush where units will be conducting maneuvers and live-fire training, so to avoid unplanned, uncontrolled fires in the future.
Crews will continue these efforts until the end of the year.
