COLORADO SPRINGS – This is Colorado and you never know when it could start snowing, and that’s why the Colorado Department of Transportation is looking for this winters crop of snowplow drivers.

“Our maintenance personnel take a lot of pride in their equipment, the roads they patrol, the communities they serve and the teamwork that’s required to make sure our highways are safe for the traveling public,” said Kyle Lester, CDOT Director of Maintenance.

Open positions include permanent and seasonal highway maintenance workers and snowplow drivers. There are full-time and part-time positions available, most starting in November. Seasonal positions generally last about up to nine months.

Permanent positions offer full benefits and the opportunity for promotions. Starting pay is $18.47 an hour.

All open positions do require a Colorado Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License, as well as experience operating heavy equipment. New this year, CDOT will allow the heavy equipment requirement to be fulfilled by driving a forklift or bus.

“If that’s something you’d like to be a part of, along with possible long-term career possibilities, please contact us because we’re interested,” Lester said.

There’s no need to wait until November to apply, you can do it right now. A list of open job opportunities can be found here.
