COLORADO SPRINGS – Seniors are putting on their best smile to raise money for Alzheimer’s awareness.

Synergy Home Care teamed with MorningStar Assisted Living and Memory Care at Mountain Shadows on Friday for seniors to take some selfies.

“We get a wonderful reaction, they have a lot of fun participating,” said Ian McClintock, co-owner, Synergy Home Care.

Synergy is a home care service that helps people stay in their homes for as long as they can. They use the senior selfies as a way to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s.

“Sometimes there’s a little bit of confusion, not sure what they’re participating with, but then we kind of explain the process and have them help us take the selfies,” McClintock said.

For each selfie posted on its Facebook page, Synergy is donating $5 to the Alzheimer’s Association. Their goal is to raise a few hundred dollars, and teach the seniors a little bit about some newer technologies.

“The ones that want to take their own selfie, we’d love to show them how to do that,” McClintock said.

Friday’s senior selfies comes a week before the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Colorado Springs event. The 2018 walk is Saturday, Sept. 15 at America the Beautiful Park. The Alzheimer’s Association is hoping to raise $280,000.
