COLORADO SPRINGS – Police were called to the Clarion Hotel on W. Bijou Street overnight to deal with a former employee accused of trying to steal money from a locked cash box.

According to Colorado Springs Police, Michael Barnes went into the employee area just before 3 a.m. Friday to try and grab some cash from behind the counter.

Employees on duty at the time reportedly backed away when Barnes started acting erratically.

While officers were trying to get Barnes into custody they had to use a taser to get him under control, according to CSPD.

Barnes was taken into custody without further incident. He’s charged with burglary.
