ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK – A search and rescue team at Rocky Mountain National Park is working to recover a body from extremely rugged terrain just west of Keplinger’s Couloir at 12,600 feet.

It’s believed the body may belong to a man from Illinois who was reported as missing on Tuesday.

The Boulder County Coroner will make official identification after an autopsy is conducted.

Family members notified park rangers last Tuesday that 60-year old Jens “Jay” Yambert, from Urbana, Illinois, had not checked in.

Officials from Rocky Mountain National Park said Yambert may have started his hike from the Longs Peak Trailhead on the afternoon of August 26th.

His rental car was found at the trailhead the following Tuesday night. An extensive ground and aerial search for Yambert began on Wednesday.
