DENVER – In a news conference Wednesday, Denver Police announced they arrested a 16-year-old girl in connection to the death of 7-year-old Jordan Vong.

Since the suspect is a minor, her identity has not been released. She is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Police said they cannot yet disclose the relationship between the suspect and Vong.

Vong was reported missing by a family member around 4:30 p.m. Monday. Denver police said officers responded to the home minutes later and searched the home twice. When they did not find Vong, police said they expanded their search outside of the home to nearby areas.

Tuesday night, Denver PD opened a third, more intensive search inside the home and later announced they found Vong’s body.

Division Chief of Investigations for the Denver Police Department  Joe Montoya said Vong’s body was “intentionally concealed” inside the home.

Montoya also said the family cooperated with the investigation and expressed concern during the investigation.
