FOUNTAIN — Two fugitives and sex offenders were arrested Monday morning at the Fountain Inn after police received reports of a possible child kidnapped from another state with them, according to the Fountain Police Department.

The suspects gave police fake names when they arrived at the inn and were later identified as 27-year-old Cody Cardwell and 24-year-old Brieanna Schroll. FPD said the child with them was not kidnapped and is the child of Schroll.

Police said Cardwell was a wanted fugitive from North Carolina for failing to register as a sex offender and probation violation for sexual assault on a child. Schroll was also a wanted fugitive from North Carolina for failure to report as a sex offender and probation violation for burglary.

The two were arrested on the outstanding warrants and FPD said they will be charged with criminal impersonation. Cardwell will also be charged for failure to register as a sex offender in Colorado.
