BRECKENRIDGE – A popular piece of art that’s caused friction with surrounding homeowners will stay where it is… for now.

The Breckenridge Town Council voted 5-2 Tuesday to keep the wooden sculpture along the Wellington Trail until next Spring when the town will revisit whether to relocate the attraction.

The troll, known as Isak Heartstone, was the creation of Danish artist Thomas Dambo and commissioned by Breckenridge Creative Arts. It was installed at its current location on Aug. 9, 2018 during the 2018 Breckenridge International Festival of Arts.

The troll’s popularity increased as a result of the Internet. That caused neighbors in the area to complain to the Breckenridge town council that the troll was causing problems with traffic and other concerns about crowds nearby.

There are signs in the area that tell those visiting Isak to stay on the trail, leave no trace and keep dogs on a leash.
