COLORADO SPRINGS – A new birthing center in the works for Colorado Springs is creating a buzz among expectant moms. The ‘Beginnings Birth Center’ will offer a natural delivery in a low-key setting, just minutes away from the hospital.
Jolene Hamann has been working on the project for two years now to create this option for women with low-risk pregnancies.
“Looks like a bedroom and feels like a bedroom, but that has some emergency equipment tucked away and you have the option here, which is not an option at a hospital, to give birth in the tub if you so choose,” explained Haman.
As the birth center is focused on natural births mothers won’t have the option of an epidural. However, alternatives such as laughing gas or time in the water for pain-relief are available.
Deliveries at the new center are expected to start in January.
