LINCOLN PARK – Dozens gathered in chilly rain Monday night to remember Lilyana “Lily” Zweig (pronounced ‘zwye’), 14, who drowned last week in an irrigation pond.  According to an obituary posted Monday, Zweig drowned while swimming with her brothers in a pond behind her home.

Mourners, many of them children and teenagers, held candles and listened as Lily’s dad, Marcus, spoke and told them that the tragedy could make him feel mad or sad, but that knowing that Lily is now in a better place brings him comfort.  “I’m sorry that this happened,” Zweig said. “To all of you parents, I hope that you watch your kids and if something like this happens, don’t condemn yourself because you’re just hurting everyone else around you.”

According to her obituary, Zweig was born in 2004 in Phoenix and arrived in Fremont County in 2015.
