VIRGINIA – Despite growing calls for his resignation following controversy over racist yearbook photos, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam is hunkering down.
Northam is now denying he is pictured in a 1984 medical school yearbook photo showing two men, one in blackface and the other in a Ku Klux Klan hood and robe.
Just last week Northam apologized for appearing in the photo and admitted he once darkened his skin as part of a Michael Jackson costume at another event he claimed was a dance contest.
The governer’s sudden change in his story sparked a firestorm of condemnation.
“It’s just a nightmare, a nightmare in Virginia right now, and we need it to end,” Congressman Donald McEachin said.
Every Democrat running in the 2020 presidential election is urging Northam to resign.
