The Colorado Avalanche had plenty of highlights during their 7-1 victory over the LA Kings, at the Pepsi Center on Saturday.

But the best one happened off the ice.

During an intermission, Sarah Villegas was honored as a King Soopers military spouse and given a round of applause.

She and her husband, Taylor Villegas, are stationed at Fort Carson right now.

Sergeant Taylor Villegas has served 10 years in the military, has been serving his second deployment in Afghanistan and was due to return in February.

He came home a little early, though.

Sarah and her son, Sebastian, were instructed to look up the aisle of her section, where Sergeant Villegas was standing with a bouquet of flowers.
