LAYTON, Utah – When Netflix issued its warning to users to be safe during the “Bird Box challenge,” it probably didn’t expect someone to drive with their eyes covered.
However, it happened Friday morning outside of Salt Lake City.
Police said a 17-year-old girl is lucky that she wasn’t hurt after she drove while covering her eyes. As you can probably expect, it ended in a crash.
Layton police said she drifted into oncoming traffic when she pulled her hat over her eyes to emulate the popular online meme.
The Bird Box challenge follows the Netflix movie Bird Box, which was a smash hit for the streaming service. In the movie, characters have to wear a blindfold to avoid visions that urge them to die.
Layton is located to the north of Salt Lake City.
