One police officer killed in Louisiana, another injured in North Carolina

SHREVEPORT, La. – In two separate shootings, a police officer was killed and a Raleigh police officer was wounded in a violent end to law enforcement appreciation day across the U.S.

Shreveport police said a female officer was shot four times Wednesday night, including once in the head. They said the woman, who has not yet been identified, was not yet on duty and was not responding to a call when the shooting happened.

She was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. Officers detained someone for questioning, but it’s not clear at this time if that person is a suspect or if there are other suspects.


In North Carolina, A Raleigh police officer was shot several times Wednesday night while trying to take a suspect into custody.

Raleigh police said the male officer was wounded Wednesday night and has undergone surgery. His condition is unclear.

Two suspects are reportedly in custody in connection to the shooting. However, authorities haven’t released the identities of those involved.
