NASHVILLE, TN – His name is Kid Rock, but for hundreds of people at a Nashville Walmart, he should be called Santa Claus.
The musician reportedly has paid off 350 layaway accounts at a Walmart store in Nashville.
According to Tom Meyer, the store’s manager, Rock gave the store at 3458 Dickerson Place about $81,000 to pay down all of the layaway accounts.
“Kudos to Kid Rock for making such a gesture in our community,” Meyer said. “I think that’s a pretty Nashville proud moment.”
On Twitter, Kid Rock said he was following the lead of director Tyler Perry, who reportedly paid off the layaway balances at two Georgia Walmarts.

Meyer said Kid Rock called the store Friday morning, explaining that he wanted to spread some good cheer by paying down the layaway balances. His manager later came into the store to make the big payment.
Each customer whose balance was paid was given a card explaining that Rock made the payment on their behalf.
“Merry Christmas from your neighbor!” the cards read.
