A group of duck hunters got an up-close look at Mother Nature’s fury Saturday when a tornado trapped them in their hunting blind.

“It got real calm at first so you know you hear the calm before the storm and it actually did that, it was calm and then you know you hear the whole like it gets green out and it was kinda weird color out,” said Matt Stroub.

The calm would not last. The group watched in disbelief as the twister formed.

“One particular spot was very angry, it was moving every direction and naturally that’s where it ended up dropping out,” said Jake Meyer.

As the tornado got closer the group realized their best bet for survival was staying put.

“We were in a steel pit, inside the ground, we would have had to walk through water to the four wheeler to get back to the trucks, and our trucks were actually in the path of where the tornado was going,” recalled Levi Sarff.

With nothing else to do, they used their cell phone cameras to capture the incredible experience.
