TEXAS – The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office reports that the two suspects wanted for the Nov. 16th robbery of the U.S. Bank in Pueblo West were arrested Monday in Texas after a short vehicle pursuit with law enforcement.
The Nov. 16th robbery occurred at the U.S. Bank located inside the Safeway at 1017 N. Market Plaza in Pueblo West.
The Sheriff’s Office said they learned the identities of the suspects Saturday and spent the weekend tracking their whereabouts. Saturday, the suspects were identified as 36-year-old Patrick James Byrom and 40-year-old Kortny Nicole Payne.
Monday morning, the Sheriff’s Office learned that Byrom and Payne were near Childress, Texas and alerted authorities in the area.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, at about 10 a.m. law enforcement spotted the suspects traveling East on Highway 287 and attempted to stop their vehicle. The suspects eluded officers for about 14 miles while driving at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Wichita County Sheriff’s Deputies eventually stopped the suspects using stop sticks and a PIT maneuver.
Byrom and Payne were taken into custody without incident and booked into the Wichita County Detention Center.
“I want to thank the detectives and deputies for their great work in identifying and tracking down these two suspects,” said Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk M. Taylor. “Their diligent work, along with the tips provided by the public and the assistance of our law enforcement partners in Texas led to the swift capture and arrest of these dangerous individuals.”
