NEW HAMPSHIRE – In a now-viral video, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper was spotted in a New Hampshire cafe saying he is going to run for president, maybe.

The video, recorded Wednesday morning, shows Hickenlooper speaking to several people in a cafe in New Hampshire. A woman who appears as though she works at the cafe asks Hickenlooper, “are you running for president?” To which the Governor replies, “I’m the Governor of Colorado and I’m gonna run for President.”

Adam Sexton — political director for WMUR, the ABC affiliate TV station in Manchester, N.H. — posted the video on Twitter Wednesday morning.

After some congratulations from the people he is speaking with, Hickenlooper hesitates a bit and then says, “To be honest, I haven’t made a final decision, and if I say I’m absolutely going to, then there are all kinds of legal ramifications. … I’m leaning strongly.”

After the video began making rounds on the internet, Giddy Up, Hickenlooper’s leadership PAC, released the following statement.

The governor makes clear in the video that he is joking and in his next sentence that he has not made a decision yet. If he had, his wife would have been the first to know. He is in New Hampshire to support 2018 candidates up and down the ballot.”
