COLORADO SPRINGS – Now is the time to sign up for help with paying your heating bill.

If you have concerns about not being able to pay your heating bill this winter, there are programs in Colorado that can help.

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program, or “LEAP,” starts signing people up for assistance on November 1st. Colorado Springs Utilities also offers assistance programs.

“At Colorado Springs Utilities, we have our own assistance program called Project COPE,” said …… “If people want to know more about that, I encourage them to call 211 or Pikes Peak United Way and they will find out exactly what is available for them.”

With rising costs of housing in Colorado Springs, it’s important to know that people behind on utility bills are more likely to get evicted.
