EL PASO COUNTY – The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash on I-25 in El Paso County.
CSP said the crash occurred October 27th just after 3 a.m., three miles south of Fowler.
According to State Patrol, 48-year-old Rober Gomez of Pueblo was driving northbound on I-25 when he lost control and his vehicle began to spin.
His vehicle went off the right side of the road, rolled twice, and came to rest on its wheels in a field on the east side of I-25.
CSP said the passenger in the vehicle, 43-year-old Phoebe Duran of Pueblo, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. Gomez was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
State Patrol said that neither Gomez nor Duran were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Alcohol and excessive speed are being considered factors in this crash. CSP said charges are pending for Gomez and the crash is still under investigation.
