COLORADO SPRINGS – A man who shot a dog to death at Penstemon Park off of Jetwing Circle in January of 2015 is sentenced to 15-years in prison. The sentence for the dog shooting was combined with other robbery cases.
At the sentencing, Gary William’s attorney said Williams was afraid of dogs. Prosecutors argued that Williams fired once as the dog ran toward him and then the dog immediately ran back toward the owner. Williams continued to fire shots at the dog and the animal bled to death.
Investigators say they didn’t have enough evidence to arrest 25-year-old Gary Williams until he was arrested for a robbery earlier this year. A detective says Williams confessed to killing the 5-year old Australian Shepard.
