BOSTON – Long the subject of ridicule from Republicans for her statements about Native American heritage, Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren released results of a DNA test.

According to The Boston Globe, the analysis by Stanford University professor Carlos D. Bustamante. He concluded Warren’s ancestry is mostly European. But he says “the results strongly support the existence of an unadmixed Native American ancestor.”

President Trump has repeatedly called Warren “Pocahontas”, going so far as offering $1 million to charity “paid for by Trump,” if she takes the test “and it shows you’re an Indian.”

Today in a tweet, Warren asked Trump to donate $1 million to a Native American women’s group.

All of this started in 2012 when the Senator said she was “very proud of her heritage”, citing family stories about her ancestry.  What started a political fight was the revelation Warren listed herself as “Native American” while teaching at Harvard Law School, yet never did so when she was a professor at the University of Texas.

The conversations, fighting and information available publicly only fueled more speculation on whether she used ancestry to her advantage in education or her career.  Warren has denied doing so.
