Hundreds of hot air balloons take over New Mexico skies

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Hundreds of hot air balloons took over the Albuquerque skies Saturday morning.

And the weather couldn’t have been better as lift-off started just after sunrise. This was the 47th International Balloon Festival in New Mexico, bringing millions of people to the central part of the state.

The theme, “Carry Me Away.”

Hundreds of balloons participate in the popular event that they have to have two separate launches. The show can last up two hours.

The mass ascensions are scheduled for this weekend and next.
