DALLAS – The police officer accused of shooting a man when she entered the wrong apartment earlier this month has been fired by the Dallas Police Department.
The department released a statement mid-morning Monday, “An Internal Affairs investigation concluded that on September 9, 2018, Officer Guyger, engaged in adverse conduct when she was arrested for Manslaughter.”
The officer was arrested after the shooting death of 26-year-old Botham Jean. Court documents say Guyger thought she had encountered a burglar inside her own home.
Guyger was hired by the department in November 2013. She has the right to appeal the decision by Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall.
