WELD COUNTY – A Weld County man has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography.

49-year-old Frank Steven Wietecha was sentenced to serve 130 months in prison after more than 1,000 child pornography images and thousands of images of child erotica were found in his phone. According to court documents, Wietecha’s daughter had her father’s cell phone where she discovered multiple child pornography images.

She then gave the phone to police where a federal search warrant was obtained. After conducting a forensic review of the phone and SD card associated with the phone, over 1,000 child pornography and several thousand child erotica images were found, according to a release.

The earliest photo found was captured on September 14, 2013. Analysis of the phone revealed Wietecha accessed child porn sites and took screenshots of child porn images from his computer.

Wietecha was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver on February 7. He pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography on May 3 and was sentenced on September 14. Court records also revealed he had a prior state misdemeanor conviction of possession of child pornography.

“Our prosecutors and the FBI leave no stone unturned when it comes to protecting children,” said U.S. Attorney Bob Troyer.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI. For more information about child internet safety, click here.
