PARK COUNTY – Human skeletal remains were found near Guffey in early September, according to the Park County Coroner.

The discovery was made while forensic canines were searching for a missing man in Park County. William Iovenko went missing in April 2017, but his car was later discovered, the coroner’s office said.

Park County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Park County Coroner’s Office conducted the field search in the area where Iovenko’s car was found. The coroner’s office says it is now waiting for dental records to positively identify the human remains.

An anthropological exam of the remains will also be conducted. Once all exams are complete, the manner of death will be determined.
