FORT  LUPTON – Fort Lupton Fire Protection District crews spent nearly two hours freeing a horse trapped in a trailer found on its side Sunday night.

Fire crews responded to the area of County Road 18 and County Road 21 on reports of a horse trailer on its side. A live horse was found trapped inside the trailer as crews arrived on scene.

The trailer was reported as stolen earlier in the day, fire crews said. A veterinarian also responded to the incident as the extrication process began.

Crews said it took 1.5 hours to free the horse from the trailer. Once the horse was freed, minor injuries were assessed.

The horse was frightened but the “final outcome was good,” Ft. Lupton Fire Protection District wrote in a Facebook post about the incident.
