COLORADO SPRINGS – Three men are in jail and face charges after Colorado College campus security observed three people stealing locked bikes from the bike racks on campus.

A police officer confronted the men and they took off on foot, dropping a bicycle and a backpack along the way.

Two of the suspects were located after some help from the surveillance cameras. When the two men were approached, the suspects admitted to the thefts.

Officers recovered over $7500 worth of bicycles which had been stolen on the campus.

An officer involved in the initial investigation returned to the college and obtained photos of the third suspect and went to an address which had been identified by the initial suspects as their home.

The third man also admitted to the thefts and was taken into custody. Officers found five more bicycles and frames at the home.

All face charges of felony theft and possession of burglary tools.
