PUEBLO – Pueblo Police officers found an 18-year-old in the trunk of a car after responding to a disturbance at a house party that got out of hand early Sunday morning.

The 18-year-old was pounding from the inside of the trunk yelling for help when officers found him in a suspect car at Northern and Acero. This was shortly after officers responded to an invasion/disturbance at a house party in the 1200 block of Gray Wolf just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

Police said a group of people showed up to the party uninvited and a scuffle broke out when they were asked to leave. It is unclear when, but police believe there were shots fired as the suspects were fleeing the scene.

Multiple officers then searched the area where the suspect vehicle was seen and found one suspect hiding in a yard, according to Pueblo Police. An officer that stayed with the suspect vehicle then heard the pounding inside the trunk and discovered the 18-year-old male inside.

The male told officers that he had just met the suspects and was “trying to make new friends,” according to Pueblo PD. He allegedly “drew the short straw” and had to ride in the trunk.

Police do not believe the 18-year-old was involved in the earlier disturbance, but that remains under investigation. Officers also launched a drone to search the area where a female suspect was located.

The investigation is ongoing.
