COLORADO SPRINGS – A local business gave parents a break during one of the busiest shopping seasons of the year. Neon’s Salon and Barbershop on Barnes Rd. offered free haircuts to students Wednesday. Six stylists donated their time to providing new ‘dos at the price of a smile.

Kids ages 4 to 16 enjoyed some tasty treats from food trucks and played mini golf in the parking lot while waiting for their turn in the chair.

News 5 spoke with the owners who say they know times are rough for people and this how they’re giving back.

“We just want everyone to feel good going back to school and feeling fresh and clean and ready to go,” says Annamarie Miller.

Neon’s said it provided 177 haircuts Wednesday over 10 hours, roughly $3,500 worth.

If your student missed out, don’t worry. The barbershop will be offering more promotions during the school year. Bray says kids who walk in with straight A’s on their report card will get a free haircut too. They also offer discounts to first responders and their families.
