Start your engines! The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado Springs Police are trying to cut down on illegal street racing in the city.

They’ve partnered with the Pikes Peak International Raceway, in an attempt to to get the drivers off of the streets and on to the track.

The very first event is scheduled for August 4th, with gates opening at 11:00 a.m. The races themselves start at noon. It does cost drivers $25.00, but in comparison to losing your license for illegal street racing, it’s a small cost.

Races are also scheduled in September and October. http://offthestreetdrags.com/
