For the last 16 years, the Rocky Mountain State Games has brought in thousands of athletes to Colorado Springs.

This year alone, more than 10,000 athletes competed in a variety of sports such as Tennis, Bowling, LaCrosse, and Archery- only a few of dozens.

With the event’s history in Colorado Springs, it’s become a notable summer event ever year in the Pikes Peak Region, and it pays off to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars.

‘Our goal is to get people into Colorado Springs,’ said Aubrey McCoy, Dir. of Operations and Marketing for Sports Corp- the organization which oversees the event.

‘Get heads in beds, get people spending money on our restaurants, our community, to really boost the economic vitality,’ said McCoy.

McCoy also credits the relationships with local businesses and the Convention and Visitors bureau for the impact the event has on the local economy.
