The victim of a fatal stabbing has been identified by the coroner’s office Tuesday.

33-year-old Brandon Watkins of Colorado Springs was found clinging to life in the 6300 block of Cabana Circle on July 21. Officers responded to the incident just before 12:30 a.m., on reports of a disturbance in the area.

Officers found Watkins inside a home with traumatic injuries, where lifesaving efforts were administered, according to CSPD. The efforts were unsuccessful, police then determined Watkins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a person on-scene is being considered a person of interest and is cooperating with detectives. So far, there are no reports of any arrests made.

Watkins death was the 17th homicide investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department in 2018. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
