A woman is dead after she took a substantial fall and landed in rough terrain about 1 mile due west of Salmon Lake north of Silverthorne.
The woman was reportedly hiking with another person when she fell. A Flight For Life helicopter dropped a medical team to help the woman, but the terrain prevented the chopper from landing. A High Altitude Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopter was called in to take the hiker out.
The woman did not survive the traumatic injuries. She was taken to the Summit County Coroners Office. Her name has not been released at this time.
