El Paso County Fair kicks off Saturday in Calhan

Come down to the El Paso County Fairgrounds in Calhan starting Saturday, July 14th through Saturday, July 21st for the El Paso County Fair.

Tickets are available at the gates – $7 for adults, $5 for visitors 55 years and older, $3 for youths (3 years to 12 years), free for children under 3 years old.

Saturday July 14:

5:00 p.m. – Auto Race

9:00 p.m. – Live music from Ashlee & The Longshot Revival

Sunday, July 15:

10:00 a.m. – Car Show, Colorado Outlaws Mounted Shooters, Save the Cowboy with Kevin Weatherby-Cowboy Church Service

1:00 p.m. – Free Community BBQ from Texas Roadhouse

2:00 p.m. – Ranch Rodeo (Free with fair admission)

Monday, July 16:

6:00 p.m. – 7th Annual Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament ($500 entry fee)

Tuesday, July 17:

6:00 p.m. – Silver Buckle Gymkhana Series at the Rodeo Areno

Wednesday, July 18:

2:00 p.m. – Live music from Fire Line

6:00 p.m. – Amazing Kids Contest

Q:Can I Volunteer to help at the Fair?

Q: How do I purchase general admission tickets to the fair?

A: Tickets are purchased upon arrival at the gates. Our 2017 General Gate Admission: Adults $7, Senior $5 (55 and over), Youth $3(3 yrs-12yrs), children under 3 free.

Q: Are there special discount days?

A: Yes!!!

  1. Saturday, July 14th is: Military Appreciation Day with free admission to to all Active Duty Military, Veterans and Dependents with Military ID
  2. Monday, July 16th, El Paso County Day is FREE!
  3. Tuesday, July 17th is Youth Day and kids under 13 are $1.00 off general admission!
  4. Wednesday, July 18th is Dollar Day and all General Admission is only $1.00
  5. Friday, July 20st is Senior Day and 55 & older get into the Fair for $3.00
  6. Saturday, July 21st is First Responder Heroes Day! 
    $1.00 off of all Law Enforcement, EMS & Firefighters and each person in their family.

Q: Are there special discounts for Military?

A: Military Appreciation Day: Admission is free to to all Active Duty Military, Veterans and 
Dependents with Military ID

Q: How do I purchase tickets to a grandstand event (Auto Races, Tractor Pull, CPRA Rodeo &/or Demolition Derby ?

A: 1) Tickets can be purchased online at our website elpasocountyfair.com by clicking tickets at top of page.
2) Tickets can be purchased via telephone at 719-520-7880 for will call pick up.
3) You can purchase tickets in person at Swink Hall – Fair Office in Calhan during office hours.
4) Tickets can be purchased at the gate the day of the event providing that the event is not sold out.

Q: Where do I pick up Will Call tickets?

A: Tickets will be available at the South Gate entrance. South Gate is located off Yoder St./Calhan Hwy, (5) fifth right from Hwy 24. Please be prepared to show I.D. to pick up tickets.

Q: Do you charge for parking?

A: Parking is FREE. During Fair: north lot is designated for handicap parking which is off 10th Street, south parking lot is for all general parking and is located off Yoder St./Calhan Hwy (5) fifth right from Hwy 24. Calhan School parking is done as a fundraiser for the school and does not involve the Fair.

Q: Do you have handicap parking and where is it located?

A: The handicap parking lot is located at our North gate entrance off of 10th Street. A handicap sticker or placard is required.

Q: Am I allowed to tailgate?

A: No. Tailgating is prohibited.

Q: Do you have stroller or wheelchair rental?

A: We do not have these available for rent; however we do offer a courtesy cart !

Please request at the Fair office or at the ticket booths.
Q: Can I bring in my own food / beverages?

A: No outside food/coolers or alcoholic beverages are allowed.

Q: Is there an ATM machine available?
A: Yes – we have 2 ATM locations on the grounds. One is located in the Swink Hall Foyer, the other is located on the south

end of the grandstand building. They are sponsored Farmers State Bank.

Q: Can I bring my dog to the fairgrounds?

A: Pets are not permitted on the fairgrounds with the exception of service animals. No not even small dogs that fit in your purse.

Q: What are the hours of the fair?

A: The Fair opens at 10:00 am, however most events don’t start until 11:00 am. The Fair will close at night depending on the events for the evening but a general time we advertise is 10:00 pm.

Q: Is there reserved seating in the grandstands?

A: No, grandstand seating is all general admission. We recommend arriving early if you want a particular location in the grandstands. We do provide a family section where no alcohol is allowed.

Q: What are your office hours?

A: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Saturday Closed Sunday and legal holidays. It is always a good idea to call head just to make sure someone will be here 719-520-7880.

Q: Are the Fair and Events Complex Facilities available for rental?
A: Yes, we have great facilities for your special events such as weddings, parties, banquets, meetings, trade shows, expos and corporate events. We also have 2 riding arenas and stables for your horse events, as well as a ¼ mile dirt race track. Visit the Facility Rentals section of the website for more information.
