Colorado Park and Wildlife is seeking the public’s help in solving a case of two dead mountain goats that were illegally shot and found dead on the Quandary Peak Trail.

CPW said their officers found the goats July 4th, approximately 2.8 miles up the Quandary Peak Trail near Breckenridge.

The goats were young males, between one and two-years old, and were found approximately 40 yards from each other.

CPW officers are looking for information from anyone that was hiking Quandary Peak on July 2nd or 3rd who may have seen something.

According to CPW, for each mountain goat a fine of not less than $1,000 and not more than $100,000 or imprisonment of not more than one year in the county jail, or both, are the penalties for this crime. Upon conviction, any or all license privileges of the guilty party can be suspended for a period of one year to life.

Members of the public who may have information should contact the Operation Game Thief (OGT) hotline at 877-265-6648.
