For its 6th year, the Pikes Peak Celtic Fest brought even more tradition, beer, and whiskey this Father’s Day weekend.

The original festival ended in 1999, but made a comeback in 2013 and now the some of the activities at the event qualify athletes for bigger competitions.

The festival itself combines an appreciation for Celtic culture and beverages, as well as traditional Highlander athletic competitions.

Every Father’s Day weekend men in kilts playing bagpipes flock to Memorial Park for the big event.

The event’s organizer Joe Poch, says it’s becoming more popular every year.

‘The city’s kind of learned that every year we have this pretty unique event here, and it’s something that’s kind of very different but something that’s fun to spend a day at, and just enjoy the festivities and the rock music and all the bands and just relax with the family,’ said Poch.
