An inmate from the Sterling Correctional Facility is recovering from a gunshot wound after he tried to escape from the Logan County courthouse on Wednesday afternoon.
The inmate was at the courthouse for a hearing when he attempted to escape. The inmate was shot by a Department of Corrections officer and taken to an area hospital for treatment.
There were no injuries to any law enforcement staff at the courthouse, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The county courtrooms were closed for the day. have been closed for the day.
Logan County Sheriff Brett Powell said the inmate was from the Sterling Correctional Facility. None of his deputies were involved.
