Four administrators at a Denver charter school have been suspended after a playground fight captured on video showed the school’s restorative justice coordinator encouraging the students to throw punches.

Officials with Wyatt Academy said Friday the elementary school principal, assistant principal, school psychologist and the coordinator are on administrative leave.

Initially, three girls involved in the April 20 altercation were cited by police for public fighting. The citations were later dismissed.

Denver police are investigating the coordinator, who eventually did break up the fight.

While Wyatt Academy administrators learned of the fight the same day, activists with Our Voice Our Schools complain that no action was taken against staff until the group released the video. The school board has hired an outside investigator.

Denver Public Schools officials didn’t learn about the fight until May 17.
