The American College of Sports Medicine ranked three Colorado cities in the top 25 of the nation’s "fittest cities," with Colorado Springs coming in at the 24th spot.

Arlington, Virginia came in at the top spot, with Minneapolis, Washington D.C., Madison, Wisconsin and Portland Oregon rounding out the top 5. Denver ranked seventh with Aurora placing two spots ahead of Colorado Springs at 22nd.

The rankings factored in access to places to recreation facilities, low smoking rates, obesity rates and even how easy it is to access fresh fruits and vegetables at local farmer’s markets.

"The top things for these cities is that they have wonderful opportunities for being physically active and having a high quality of life," says Barbara Ainsworth of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Oklahoma City came in last at number 100.
