A new business concept is taking off at The Carter Payne.

It’s called a restaurant incubator program and the intent is to provide a little bit of a runway for people with food or drink ideas. The program gives people 12-18 months to launch and figure out what they want their business to be.

As of Monday, there were two businesses operating inside the old chapel as part of the incubator program. One is a Brazilian restaurant and the other is immerse cuisine or traditional bar snack foods with a twist.

The owners of the chapel say they’re doing as much as they can to provide coaching, feedback on menu items, and other business tips. They say the program is a great opportunity for people that don’t have the time or the finances to start a full-fledged business.

Co-owner Melissa Howard said, "We are creating a restaurant environment for them to test their concept, test their menus, make sure that they’ve got it down before they go into the real world and do it on their own."

Howard says the restaurant owners do a profit share with a percentage of their sales going back to The Carter Payne.

If you’d like to try out these restaurants The Carter Payne is open Wednesday-Sunday.
