The teacher walkout and rally in Friday meant a lot of kids out of the classroom and in many cases parents figuring out what to do with them. "Some of my friends have had to miss work in order to watch their kids and it’s made it really hard on them," said Heather who was spending the day with her first grader.

Still, most parents expressed appreciation for teachers saying they should be paid more. "I’m supporting the teachers. I think they should walk out and get better funding and be paid better so I’m all in support," said Parent, Sarah Linehan.

Classes empty but locations like the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo were packed. Skate City also opened with special daytime Friday hours and free skating. Managers their say they wanted to offer parents a place to take their kids while also supporting teachers.
