On Tuesday, the Pueblo Police Department received a call from a woman reporting the attempted abduction of her son.

The incident occurred on Thursday, April 19th, near Heaton Middle School.

According to the woman, on the day of the incident her son was standing on the curb outside Heaton Middle School waiting to be picked up by his father. While the boy was waiting, a man drove up and asked if he needed a ride. When the boy told the man he was waiting for his father, the man responded by saying the boy’s father had sent him to pick the boy up. The boy responded by pointing to another vehicle and said, "there’s my dad right now." The man then drove off.

The man was described as white, with brown hair and scruffy/unshaven facial hair. The vehicle he was driving was described as a dirty white or silver car.

Also on Tuesday, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office reported a similar incident that occurred in the 24000 block of Gale Road in Pueblo County.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, during that incident a man in a silver, two-door vehicle with faded paint approached a 15-year-old boy and offered the boy a ride. The boy refused the ride, and when he did the man got out of his vehicle and attempted to grab the boy. The Sheriff’s Office said the boy fought the man off and was able to escape.

The suspect in this incident was described as a white male, 6’4" tall, heavy set, 30-40 years of age, with short, light brown hair, and scruffy facial hair.

Both Pueblo PD and the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect or suspects involved in the kidnapping attempts. Neither department has confirmed nor denied that the same suspect is involved in the two incidents.
