I have done some difficult interviews in my career, but this one was one of the hardest:

Roxanne Blevins, or Roxy, was ready to get back in the dating game after grieving the end of her 20-year marriage.

She did what many do, she used dating apps to meet men.

She connected with one guy on Bumble who seemed great, having no idea the nightmare she was about to endure.

Blevins said she and Jason Matthew Karr spent a whirlwind three days together.

She saw some red flags, but ignored them because he seemed to be a great companion. He was an amazing listener, friend and even helped around the house.

But at one point, she realized he may be too much for her, as a single, working mother living paycheck to paycheck she wanted simple.

She asked him to leave, but that’s when he followed her to her room and locked the door.

He proceeded to sexually assault her for an hour and fifteen minutes and then held her captive in her own home.

When she escaped the next day, she fought back.

He’s now in prison, and she is sharing her story Thursday night on News 5 at 10 to give other victims hope.

She is a survivor and wants others who feel hopeless to know there is hope.
