A man critically injured by a suspected drunk driver was able to watch from his hospital room as friends held a benefit event in his honor Sunday night.

Mike Elmore was struck while unloading equipment from his van along Colorado Ave. on Tuesday. As he recovers from injuries, including a partial leg amputation, a GoFundMe page set up to help pay for his expenses.

Friends gathered at the Navajo Hogan for the benefit to help cover his bills. Elmore is a well-known local musician who often played at the venue.

The suspected driver in that crash, Tara Studer, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, vehicular assault and reckless driving.
