COLORADO SPRINGS — It's an important time of year for anyone eligible for Medicare.
Right now is an open enrollment period meaning coverage can be adjusted or changed and plans can be modified.
People should know that their health coverage should be assessed every year to make sure they have the most cost-effective and comprehensive coverage for their changing needs.
Mark Iiorio, the Central West Region Medicare President for Humana says everyone on a Medicare or Medicare Advantage plan should take time to learn about changes in plans each year and keep an eye out from companies for annual notice of change letters, insurance providers are required to send those out every year to notify customers of any rate modifications or plan changes.
He also urges people to learn about alternatives to original Medicare and explore other plans that could expand coverage, including for prescriptions or in some cases over the counter expenses.
Anyone 65 or older, disabled or with end-stage renal failure is eligible for Medicare coverage. The open enrollment period ends December 7th.
