DENVER (AP) — At least one person was shot Thursday near the state Capitol in Denver, the area that has been the hub of protests over the death of George Floyd for the last week. The Denver Post reported that police said somebody shot a person carrying a weapon, believed to be an ax, before 10 p.m. Officer R. Saunder told reporters at the scene that the shooting did not appear to be connected with the protests. At the time of the shooting, most of the protesters were marching blocks from the Capitol. Police told them about the shooting when they returned the Capitol.
