COLORADO SPRINGS — Anyone who lives in the Valley Hi, Pikes Peak Park and Parkhill neighborhoods in Colorado Springs will likely hear gunshots ring out this Wednesday evening.

CSPD will be testing their gunshot detection system between the hours of 8:00 p.m. - 10:00p.m.

Police say you will hear noises, but should not be alarmed, "The shots that are fired are going to be from granular ammunition. They're going to be fired into a gun trap, so they're not going to be fired into the air or into the ground", says Sgt. Brian Frahm, adding there's no danger to the public.

The gunshot detection systems were installed last year to help police better narrow down areas of violence. They also send information to police dispatchers so that they can better respond to real incidents.
